UK fertiliser manufacturers demonstrate their continuing commitment to ensuring fertiliser is handled and stored securely by printing the secureyourfertiliser website logo on their bags. Graham Smith of NaCTSO said "I am pleased that both Terra Nitrogen and Kemira GrowHow have again taken the lead in promoting fertiliser security. The convictions yesterday of a terrorist cell who intended to use fertiliser to make a massive bomb serves to underline the importance of stopping fertiliser from falling into the wrong hands."

Win £500 by submitting your feriliser security ideas

Farmers Weekly is running a competition (sponsored by Assured Food Standards, the Red Tractor people) to find the best new ideas and equipment for security fertiliser safely. You could win up to £500 for coming up with ideas such as novel methods of stopping people opening the bags, or ways of covering them that would reveal an attempt to tamper. Or you could suggest something you've already built, or a workable solution that you've identified.
